Vision and Mission
Our
vision is to provide a biblically based school that partners with
a community of like minded families to foster moral and academic
excellence, equipping our children to serve God, each other, and the
community at large.
Our mission is discipleship.
It is our goal to
spread God’s Word by strengthening the family unit inside of our
community so that the light of Jesus Christ can shine through our
children and through our families to the rest of the world. We believe
that by being able to provide a school for likeminded families built on
the foundation of moral training first, with academic excellence
naturally following, our children will become better students but more
importantly strong Christian leaders of the future.
Core Values
|
1.) REVERENCE:
|
All wisdom comes from first fearing the Lord and
revering Him based on who He says He is. Proverbs 9:10
|
|
2.) TRUTH:
|
God's word is perfect, serving as the authority
for all actions and decisions in our lives and as the vessel through
which we are sanctified. Psalm 19:6-8; 2 Timothy 3:14-17
|
|
3.) DISCIPLESHIP:
|
We all are created with a God-given purpose and
will strive to discover and nurture the spiritual and vocational gifts
in ourselves and in others, growing and maturing spiritually as God is
revealed in our lives. Ephesians 2:10
|
|
4.) SERVICE:
|
We will conduct ourselves in a manner that
reflects to a lost world the love of Christ and the victory that comes
through salvation. 2 Corinthians 2:14-15
|
|
5.) EXCELLENCE:
|
Our goal is to strive for excellence academically,
morally, and relationally out of reverence for Christ. 2 Corinthians
7:1, Ephesians 5:21
|
|
6.) INTEGRITY:
|
We are to live and relate in a way that is
consistent with our spiritual, moral and academic standards. Proverbs
10:9
|
|
7.) COMMUNITY:
|
The strength of the family unit, with consistent
application of fundamental biblical principles, and the commitment to a
community of likeminded people that reinforce these principles, are the
foundation for spiritual, moral, and academic growth. Phillipians 2:5-8

What
is a Community School?
A
community school is a combination of three days in school and two days
home school. This important characteristic, vital to the success of the
school, not only helps parents stay more involved in their children’s
education, but also allows them to spend more time with their children
at home providing moral and character training. The concept,
originally created by Growing Families International, has proven
successful in other areas around the country, with approximately 15
community school adhering to the same structure. By creating a school
environment of likeminded families, students find security to excel
both socially and academically.
What
do you mean by like-mindedness?
For the purpose
of a community school, like-mindedness is defined as a fellowship of
committed Christian families adhering to biblical principles. These
families are actively pursuing spiritual growth, and agree with the
vision, statement of faith and educational philosophy of the school.
The school uses GFI’s Growing Kids God’s Way as
the means of achieving like-mindedness. Parents must have taken the
course and be actively applying its precepts in the home. It is the
common denominator that assures the families are on the same page,
since they have literally studied the same pages. This ensures that
parents, teachers and children are using the same terminology-terms
like "couch time," "happy heart" or "freedom."
This is not to discredit any other Christian parenting program; simply
put, the community school concept was born out of the GFI ministry to
create an educational environment that supports what parents are doing
at home - to come alongside parents applying the principles in their
homes. Please note, however, that the school’s foundation is and always
will be, God and the Bible. GFI or any of its programs are not and will
not be elevated to doctrine.
How
is LCCS different from any other Christian school?
LCCS exists to
provide an education opportunity for families desiring a school
environment consistent with the biblical character training they are
pursuing at home. While moral training must be initiated in the home,
for consistency, it is equally important that the same moral standards
be reinforced in the academic setting. Positive reinforcement during
school hours will help to fill their moral "warehouse" more quickly and
provide an optimal learning environment. The two home school days give
parents more time to train children and build family identity. This
unique structure will help equip the next generation to model biblical
behavior while strengthening the family unit.
Since it is the family’s responsibility to provide biblical character
training, it is vital that parents model the behaviors they are
teaching. This responsibility creates a level of accountability inside
of the community to nurture and encourage each other in maintaining
spiritual growth. LCCS seeks to support parents in balancing life’s
priorities through a unique GAPS program. Quarterly reviews provide
parents with opportunities for self-evaluation and goal setting.
Families come along side each other in prioritizing God first, marriage
second, parenting third and then service through our GAPS program. LCCS desires to let Christ’s
light shine through our families, school and into the community,
especially at this crucial time in history where we are witnessing
first hand the moral decay of the family structure.
LCCS will provide a supportive school environment for children by
upholding biblical and moral principles during school. LCCS uniquely
provides the following:
- like-minded teachers, staff and volunteers trained in
upholding biblical, behavioral and moral standards
- a like-minded community of friends for students
- a positive peer environment
- a supportive and encouraging peer group for parents
- parental support through the GAPS program
- support and advice in home schooling
- daily and weekly feedback regarding student behavior
(both positive and negative) allowing parents to encourage and train
appropriately
- monthly Dad’s chapel in which father’s lead worship
to demonstrate spiritual headship
- fellowship and bible study opportunities
- prayer support for families
