Special Area Classes
Art
At LCCS we integrate areas of study with art history and the development of art skills. Students are introduced to the basic elements of art including line, color, shape, texture, and space using a multitude of mediums.
Music
Students are introduced to a variety of music, as well as the basic elements of music. Movement activities and singing games are utilized as well. Most importantly, each week students are given an opportunity to worship God through song.
Spanish
Students begin with Spanish phrases and responses. Basic vocabulary is taught through the use of games, songs, books, and journal writing.
Worship
The students at LCCS are taught worship as an additional class during the school day. The moral development and discipleship of the students is at the heart of the school’s vision, therefore teaching the heart of Christ through worship is a vital component of their school day. Each week, the students have a memory verse and commitment statement related to the virtue of the month (which changes each month). Activities, music, crafts and object lessons are incorporated to enhance the learning of biblical principles and character. Additional lessons are sent home during the week for optional participation by the families. Some examples of biblical virtues are SELF-CONTROL, FORGIVENESS, PATIENCE, and RESPONSIBILITY. We spend one month on each virtue, finding creative ways to reinforce the virtue throughout the day in the classroom and at home with the families during the week.
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 tells us "So love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and strength. Memorize His laws, and tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all the time, whether you are at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night or getting up in the morning". At LCCS, our heart is to see God’s character shine through our children and families so that a world that may not know God might come to know Him through our love...returning to a heart of worshipping Him with our lives!
