Preschoolers and Kindergartners will have fun learning the alphabet and letter sounds through Bible activities, stories, crafts, games, worksheets, and projects. Students will learn the difference between a vowel and a consonant and to identify sounds in words and pictures. In addition we will learn new vocabulary and rhyming through literature and games. We will have a couple of theme days throughout the year where we will explore new letters through food or hands-on experiences. (Please let Mrs. Damato know of any food allergies upon the start of class.) This class will also work on pre-writing/fine motor skills as we cut, color, lace, learn letter signs (ASL), and work with play dough throughout the year to get those little fingers ready for writing. The ability to hold and use scissors is a necessary skill for this class. It doesn’t need to be mastered but it’s a skill that will need to be used at home and school as we progress through this class. K5 students who are writing will be given the opportunity to practice letter formation and other more advanced skills in addition to learning letter sounds and crafts.
